Pre-thesis Week 7: Preparing an Interview

Interviewing plan: Expert Interview

1. As we discussed before the interview part for this project would be on experts who do design for blind people but not the blind people directly.

2. As I think during the process I am hesitating whether my outcome should be a tool for people who produce descriptive video or a tool for people who watch video. The second one seems to be more straightforward but also requires more functionality.

People on the list

1. Amy Hurst: I’ll ambush her on Ability Tea this Friday. Last Friday I appear with food but it seems that Amy is travelling so I found no event in Ability Lab space.

2. Claire Kearney-Volpe: She responded to my email and tell me to catch Amy but obviously she is not interested in meeting me in person. Although she is a Phd candidate but she might be too busy, I will skip her.

3. Steven Medina: Master research assistant in Ability Project. I scheduled a talk with him in person on 29 Oct afternoon for around 30 mins, hopefully I can get something helpful from him.

4. Dirk Vander Wilt: Phd candidate in Music Tech, Amy referred me to him since they might have some sort of collaborations and I am reaching out to him.

5. Gus Chalkias: Have not reach out to him yet, I put him behind Amy on my stack since he is outside of school. But the good part is that the Hellen Keller Services for the Blind is quite close. I might be able to drop a visit on weekdays and see if I can get anything?
